Walking in her Moccasins is an experiential violence prevention resource for Indigenous men and boys. This project is rooted in the rights of Indigenous women and girls to live free from all forms of violence and encourages Indigenous men and boys to play positive and culturally relevant roles to promote gender equality. The project partners, Congress of Aboriginal Peoples and White Ribbon acknowledge the impact of colonialism on Indigenous communities, and through this Bundle offer healing-based exercises, specific to Indigenous communities, which can be adapted as needed. While the Bundle is geared towards engagement with Indigenous communities, it is hoped this resource can also enhance non-Indigenous women, girls, men and boys’ awareness and understanding of the diversity and beauty of Indigenous cultures and healing practices. The Bundle
The Bundle is a resource to address violence against Indigenous women and girls so that strategies will create change. The teachings contained within this booklet strive to enable people to share their stories and find solutions within themselves and community. The Bundle is broken up into four Quadrants.
*PowerPoints have been created for each Bundle if Trainers or community members feel they are a helpful resource to guide facilitation of the Bundle teachings.
Train-the-Trainer
Train-the-Trainer sessions are intended to work as a sustainable community-based training strategy. Train-the-Trainer offers Indigenous men and boys, or individuals interested in gender-based violence prevention programming an opportunity to become Trainers. This Guide outlines a 2.5-day training that provides instructions to trainees on ways to identify gender-based violence issues, and how to create engaging lessons about the Bundle teachings.
